Natural Fabrics Meet Handmade Love
Our Story
The word 'Mruda' in Sanskrit, which is an ancient language of India, actually means earth or soil, which is exactly where my brand gets its strength from. Code Mruda is a sustainable fashion brand, and I was born out of a passionate love for traditional craftsmanship and the beauty of the earth. The code Mruda brand story is my very own, with the vibrant fabric of my upbringing in Punjab, India, blended with the professional expertise gained through my Master's in Fashion Management at Nottingham Trent University.
We are a fashion brand that not only cares for the earth during the making, but through every step of the way, with natural fabrics with the earth as a canvas, using materials like bamboo cotton, hemp, linen, banana fabric, and soya fabric, along with natural dyes like madder, indigo, pomegranate powder, and sappan wood, which give us these beautiful shades of earthy tones, which are completely organic, hence giving every product a signature of its own.
Our sustainable fashion brand is inspired by the idea of handmade accessories for daily wear. It can include anything from well-made tote bags, laptop covers, scarves, mug rugs, scrunchies, to wall hangings made using hand-painted fabrics or intricately crocheted pieces meant to adorn the walls of galleries and exhibitions.
The idea behind Code Mruda is to create a community that understands the importance of time, expertise, and the earth itself that goes into making beautiful textiles. By using upcycled materials and teaching people the craft of natural printing and mending through workshops, we are successfully carrying forward the art of slow fashion. By choosing to wear something made by Code Mruda, you are not only carrying an accessory with you, but you are also carrying the earth with you.
